Nourish2FlourishRVA provides one-on-one nutritional counseling and education.  We work with our clients both in our offices and remotely.  We are also available to provide group nutrition education and consulting services.

Initial appointments are 60-90 minutes.  Follow up appointments take between 30 and 60 minutes.

The exact number of sessions needed is dependent upon each individual. Follow up sessions may occur every week, every other week, or monthly, depending on your needs.

Insurance may or may not cover for nutritional services. It is the responsibility of each patient to contact their insurance company to verify coverage of services and reimbursement rates. We will provide the necessary paperwork needed for the insurance company. The insurance company may ask for these procedure codes:

  • 97802 for initial appointment.
  • 97803 for each followup appointment

Also be sure to ask how many visits are covered, what your copay or coinsurance may be, and what diagnosis codes are covered.

We encourage collaboration with physicians, therapists, and families or support groups to maximize the scope of your efforts and achievements.

Registered Dietitans are the food and nutrition experts who can translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. RDNs use their nutrition expertise to help individuals make unique, positive lifestyle changes. They work throughout the community in hospitals, schools, public health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, food management, food industry, universities, research and private practice. A Registered Dietitian (RD) is required have formal education, training, licensure (depending not the state), and certification.  The following is required to become a dietitian:

  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.      * Beginning in 2024, all RD must earn a Masters degree.
  • Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program at a health-care facility, community agency, or a foodservice corporation or combined with undergraduate or graduate studies. Typically, a practice program will run six to 12 months in length.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). For more information regarding the examination, refer to CDR’s website at www.cdrnet.org.
  • Completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.

A nutritionist is not required to have any formal nutrition education, training, licensing, or certification
